About The Project

OSA::net project main goal is to create an extensible, scalable framework for management of security related devices in middle-sized and large computer networks. More information on the purpose and goals can be found in rationale section.

The OSA::net project was founded in February 2002 as the core part of my MSc thesis, lead by prof. Krzysztof Zieliński, head of Departament of Computer Science at University of Mining and Metallurgy, Cracow, Poland, as well as Distributed Systems Research Group's leader.

The name of the project is an acronym of Open Security Architecture. As the goal is to develop software providing an abstraction layer differentiating the managed devices in terms of functionality, rather than brand - several modules are planned. These modules are called OSA::ModuleName (e.g. OSA::HQ - HeadQuarters, OSA::CA - CertificateAuthority) and the whole infrastructure is called OSA::net. More information on system's architecture can be found in documentation section.
